Reports claim Philippine’s President Duterte has hired an army of digital negative campaigners, so called trolls. Similar reports are coming from Russia where President Putin set up a huge propaganda machinery including (ro)bots and trolls — nationally and internationally. Facebook is spammed by fake news and has to find creative ways to get it under control. We ask: Can Facebook become the new gate keeper? In this session we talk about the threat of fake news, media literacy as well as the need of verification and fact checking.
