Valdez (PhD, Freie Universitaet Berlin) is associate professor at the\u00a0 Department of Communication and\u00a0 executive director of the Ateneo Center for Asian Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. Prior to her work at the Asian center,\u00a0 she served for many years as executive director of Ateneo\u2019s journalism center \u2013 the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism.\u00a0 In this post she played a key role in developing\u00a0 degree and non-degree journalism programs that brought together men and women working journalists across Asia. \u00a0 At present her research focuses on patterns of influences on journalism education in Myanmar and Indonesia and on the digital divide.\u00a0 Recently she edited and co-wrote a reference on media and information literacy.\u00a0 Dr Valdez is co-author and editor of a number of books in journalism, media,\u00a0 and communication in general, and is a member of the editorial board of Journalism and Mass Communication Educator (JMCE).\u00a0 She is a professional translator and interpreter for German, English and Filipino.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1305,"template":"","speaker-group":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/acpc.asia\/acpc22\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/speakers\/1304"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/acpc.asia\/acpc22\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/speakers"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/acpc.asia\/acpc22\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/speakers"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/acpc.asia\/acpc22\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1305"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/acpc.asia\/acpc22\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1304"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"speaker-group","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/acpc.asia\/acpc22\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/speaker-group?post=1304"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
