Deputy Head of Mission, German Embassy Singapore

Christoph Hallier was born in 1968 in Tokyo, Japan. In 1994, he completed his studies of Economics and Japanese at the University of Trier, Germany and Clark University in Massachusetts, USA.

He began his diplomatic career at the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in 1995. His various posts included serving in the Political Department of the German Embassy to Japan (1999-2002) and at the German Permanent Mission to the EU (2005-08), as Deputy Head of Division in the EU Department of the Federal Foreign Office (2008-13) and as Head of the Economic Department in the German Embassy to Turkey (2013-16).

From 2016 to 2020, Christoph Hallier served as Head of Division for Arms Control, Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation in the Federal Foreign Office’s Department for International Order, the United Nations and Arms Control.

In July 2020 he took up his current position as deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Singapore.

Christoph Hallier is married and has two children.
