Jason Hsu is a technologist-turned-legislator. He is currently a legislator-at-large overseeing technology developments and innovation. Known as the Crypto Congressman, Jason is credited for launching Asia Blockchain Alliance (ABA), Taiwan Parliamentary Coalition for Blockchain (TPCB) and Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO). He is especially concerned about the rise of blockchain, cryptocurrency, automation and artificial intelligence and robots. Jason is never absent from human rights advocacy in Taiwan. In the parliament, he introduces progressive legislation regarding thoughtful immigration, marriage equality and a dignified end of life. More recently, he is proud to have introduced and led the marriage equality bill that resulted in Taiwan’s constitutional court legalizing same-sex marriage as of May 20th 2017, and helped to pass the law on May 17th 2019. He also proposed the Voluntary Active Euthanasia Act, which could possibly be the first Voluntary Euthanasia Law in Asia. He believes that people should have their rights up to the time of their death.
