Hannes Grassegger (*1980) is an economist and reporter from Switzerland. His focus is the technology of power. He reports about disinformation, social media politics and information warfare. He is known for his groundbreaking investigations into Cambridge Analytica; the origins of the memetic warfare against billionaire philanthropist George Soros and the publication of Facebook global guidelines for „content moderation“. Hannes works as a technology reporter for Das Magazin (Zürich). His work has been translated into over 20 languages. He has written for The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Internazionale, and Buzzfeed amongst others. Hannes is a 2018 Wilson Center fellow and part of the World Economic Forum global expert community. He studied economics and management at Humboldt University Berlin and graduated with a Masters in Economics from Zürich University. In 2014 he published his book “Das Kapital bin Ich” (I am Capital), discussing property rights for personal data. In 2019 he presented a concept for a Swiss Social Network for News.
